MPSPC Celebrates 52nd Commencement with 593 Graduates, Highlights Path to University Status

The Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) – Bontoc Campus conducted its 52nd Commencement Exercises with the theme “Pursuing the Dream: Fortifying Efforts for MPSPC’s Transformation into a State University” at the Bontoc Central School Gymnasium, Poblacion, Bontoc, MP, today, July 14, 2023.

College President Dr. Edgar G. Cue conferred degrees to 593 graduates across the different programs with 13 graduates from the School of Advanced Education and 580 from the undergraduate programs. Majority of the graduates belong to the bottom financial quintile who availed of the grants and scholarships provided by the institution and the government for them to graduate on time.

Meanwhile, Regional Director Irene B. Gahid of Department of Budget and Management – Cordillera Administrative Region (DBM-CAR) graced the event as the guest of honor and speaker inspiring the graduates.

RD Gahid emphasized the importance of having a university in the province to address the struggles of parents in sending their children to the cities.

She also underscored the role of the parents and the mentors in the upbringing of the graduates saying to “give credit to parent as well as the mentors.” “As you navigate the real path after the academic life, remember that there will be crossroads. There can be uncertain path or even common path. But eventually there will come a point that you will choose which path to take. There will be many decisions. All you have to do is trust your instinct—that inner conversation within ourselves,” Gahid shared.
