Empowering Fruit Growers Association in Barlig, Mountain Province: A Collaborative Effort to Support Sustainable Businesses through Pasta and Pie Making

Faculty members and students of the Hotel and Tourism Management Department of the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) conducted a training workshop to support the Fruit Growers Association of Barlig, Mountain Province. The workshop focused on equipping local entrepreneurs with the skills to create financially and socially sustainable businesses by introducing them to innovative food production methods utilizing locally sourced fruits as the main ingredients, specifically pie-making and pasta-making. The initiative aligns with the college’s mission to contribute to the economic development of local communities by fostering entrepreneurial skills and promoting sustainable business practices.

The training workshop is expected to have a lasting impact on the participants by helping them diversify their agricultural businesses. With the new skills acquired, fruit growers are better equipped to create value-added products, increasing their marketability and income potential. The MPSPC aims to continue its partnership with local communities by offering further workshops and business mentoring to help sustain and scale up these ventures.

The success of the pie-making and pasta-making workshop marks the beginning of a broader effort to support the development of sustainable local businesses in the Mountain Province, encouraging economic independence while preserving the rich cultural heritage of the region.
