MPSPC SSG and Accredited Student Organizations Take Oath of Office

To affirm public commitment to the duties, responsibilities, and obligations within the studentry, the newly elected officers of Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) Supreme Student Government (SSG) and accredited student organizations comprising 27 student organizations and 339 officers took their oath of office today, October 23, 2023,  at the College Auditorium, Bontoc, Mountain Province. 

Bontoc Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong Jr., administered the oath-taking of newly elected officers of various organizations in the academe. The attendees were future educators, environmentalists, and advocates for social change, all with a shared goal: to make a positive impact on the college and community.The oath-taking ceremony symbolized a commitment to make MPSPC known for exceptional leadership and community service. The students pledged to work together, support each other’s initiatives, and lead with integrity and passion.

In a message, College President Edgar G. Cue represented by Mr. Dexter C. Lingbanan, Vice President for Administration and Finance, encouraged the officers to maximize their full potential toward the attainment of common goals for students’ welfare. He also urged them to become resilient, accountable, responsive to students’ adversities, and perform excellence within their tenure of office. “Let you be the ears and the voice of your fellow students. Lead with empathy, lead with courage, and lead with the interests of the entire student body at heart,” 

The oath-taking ceremony formalized the students’ commitment to their respective roles and reinforced the significance of collaboration and leadership within the college community. These student leaders are poised to play a crucial role in fostering a dynamic and inclusive campus environment in the coming academic year. Their oath is a constant reminder of their pledge to serve their fellow students and contribute meaningfully to realizing MPSPC’s educational mission. As the academic year unfolds, the impact of these student leaders on campus life is anticipated to reflect the values and principles that shape the identity of Mountain Province State Polytechnic College.

Student organizations and representatives play a vital role in enriching university life by building community, fostering personal and professional growth, and amplifying student voices. This also promotes SDG 16 by fostering inclusive, peaceful, and accountable campus communities. They promote diversity, civic engagement, and transparency, preparing students to be responsible, active citizens.   This also provides safe spaces, empowers student voices, and encourages ethical leadership, all of which contribute to more responsive and inclusive university institutions. Through these actions, student organizations play a vital role in advancing peace, justice, and strong institutions in the campus environment.
