Bontoc, Mountain Province – The Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) Accountancy Department, in line with its commitment to lifelong learning and educational outreach, conducted a training entitled “Empowering Women Farmers of TBBECCO through Advanced Excel Competency” on June 12, 2023, at the MPSPC-Bontoc campus.
The training aimed to enhance the financial literacy of women farmers from the Tubo-Benguet Barrio Electric Cooperative (TBBECCO), empowering them to effectively manage their cooperative’s financial affairs.
Ms. Parline Angyap T. Ullalim, GAD Focal Person of MPSPC, emphasized the importance of women’s participation in cooperative management. She encouraged the participants to take advantage of the training and equip themselves with the necessary skills.
President Edgar G. Cue, in his message, expressed the College’s commitment to supporting TBBECCO and providing essential training and skills enhancement programs. He highlighted the significance of financial literacy in ensuring the sustainable growth of cooperatives.
The training covered various topics, including:
Recording Cash Receipt Transactions using MS Excel: Ms. Fremalyn A. Dacanay led the session, guiding participants through the process of recording cash receipt transactions using Excel.
Recording Cash Disbursement Transactions: Mr. Nestor A. Mataag discussed the concept of cash disbursement journals and demonstrated how to create and use them in Excel.
Posting to the Ledger using MS Excel: Mr. Mel A. Co explained the principles of posting to the ledger and facilitated a hands-on workshop where participants practiced posting transactions to their respective ledgers.
The training concluded with a closing remark from Ms. Daniela W. Paspas, BSA Extension Coordinator, who provided updates on future extension activities of the department.
By providing this training, MPSPC has taken a significant step towards empowering women farmers and strengthening the financial management capabilities of TBBECCO.
