Fostering Empowerment and Inclusivity: MPSPC’s Mentorship Program in Research and Capstone Projects

Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) continues its commitment to academic excellence and inclusive student empowerment through comprehensive mentoring programs. These programs are essential in supporting students in completing critical academic projects such as theses, research studies, feasibility studies, and capstone projects. The College’s unwavering support for these projects, which are mandatory across all 25 of MPSPC’s undergraduate programs, instills confidence in students, knowing that they have the necessary resources to succeed, as outlined in the student manual.

To facilitate meaningful student engagement in research, the College promotes research mentorship program to support students’ academic growth and deepen their engagement in scientific inquiry. Through dedicated faculty mentorship, students are guided in completing their studies from the expert insight and personalized support of faculty advisers. This mentorship plays a crucial role in promoting academic success, ensuring that each student receives meaningful guidance. Advisers are thoughtfully matched with students based on compatibility and shared academic interests, without bias toward gender, fostering equal opportunities. This inclusive approach not only enhances the quality of students’ research experiences but also cultivates an environment where all students, regardless of gender or background, are empowered to achieve their intellectual and professional goals.

This mentoring framework has been instrumental in supporting students, with the College graduating 894 students in the 2023-2024 academic year, of whom an impressive 70% (630) were women. This substantial proportion of female graduates in a demanding academic environment highlights MPSPC’s commitment to fostering an inclusive learning atmosphere and providing strong support systems. By equipping its students, particularly women, with the skills, confidence, and resources needed to excel across diverse career paths, MPSPC stands as a transformative institution championing gender equality and academic excellence.
