Cash-for-Work Program Provides Financial Assistance to Low-Income Students

Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) alumni and graduating students under the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) Cash-for-Work Program receive their cash incentives this 21st of December 2023 at the Eyeb Gymnasium, Poblacion, Bontoc, MP.

Sponsored by the Office of Senator Imee R. Marcos, through the partnership between the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and MPSPC, the CFWP holds a profound significance for the college and the community as it aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) particularly focusing on poverty reduction, enhancing educational opportunities, and fostering socioeconomic progress of the region while promoting gender equality by ensuring equitable access to opportunities.

Moreover, a mass payout is carried out to ensure seamless and equitable disbursement of financial aid to the beneficiaries of the program in exchange for the community service they rendered.

In his speech, MPSPC President Dr. Edgar G. Cue, represented by Chief-of-Staff Reynaldo P. Gayo, acknowledged the participation of national government officials from Senator Marcos’ office as well as local officials from the Provincial and Municipal governments of Bontoc. He also complimented the collaboration of the DSWD and MPSPC workers, as well as the participants of this beneficial initiative, for their contributions to the program’s success.

“Our commitment here at MPSPC extends beyond immediate relief. We are not only providing financial assistance, but are also actively participating in the global pursuit of a better world. Together, we can turn today’s assistance into a catalyst for positive and continuing transformation. As we extend a helping hand, let us also recognize the transformative power of education in shaping a brighter future,” Cue added.

Said event exemplifies the synergy underscored by the collective dedication of various stakeholders including DSWD, PLGU and LGU of Mountain Province, national agencies, MPSPC, and the province as a whole.

Present during the payout were Congressman Maximo Y. Dalog, Jr., Bontoc Mayor Jerome Chagsen B. Tudlong, Jr., Buako Mayor Randolf Awisan, Ms. Amelyn P. Cabrera, DSWD-CAR Assistant Regional Director for Operations, and Ms. Merlinda Claire Manwit, who represented Senator Imee Marcos.
