Members of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) and the Provincial COVID-19 Task Force, chaired by Governor Bonifacio C. The meeting covered critical issues impacting the province, including updates on the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing vaccination roll-out to protect public health. Council members reviewed the 3-Dimension and Precision Risk and Susceptibility Mapping (3D PRISM) to enhance preparedness and reduce risk across the region. They also assessed the impact of Typhoon Betty, emphasizing the need for resilient recovery strategies for affected areas. Updates were provided on the proposed Mountain Province Climate Field School for Farmers, which was submitted to the People’s Survival Fund Board for funding. The project aims to help farmers better adapt to climate change. Another item on the agenda was the increase in drowning incidents along the Chico River, prompting a report from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) of Bontoc to discuss preventive measures. Lastly, the Council reviewed the status of various disaster risk reduction and management projects funded by the Local and National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management funds, implemented by the Provincial Government and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
MPSPC’s participation in the PDRRMC reflects its ongoing dedication to fostering a safer, more resilient Mountain Province. By collaborating on critical initiatives that address public health, climate adaptation, and disaster preparedness, the College remains committed to playing an active role in regional development and community protection.
