Faculty, staff, and student leaders from all accredited organizations of MPSPC-Bontoc gathered at the College Auditorium on the morning of March 6, for an impactful seminar, “Empowering Minds, Nurturing Bodies,” centered on reproductive health and gender equality. This event was held in observance of National Women’s Month, emphasizing the college’s commitment to fostering awareness and inclusivity for all genders.
The seminar addressed key issues affecting reproductive health and aimed to empower participants with knowledge for making informed choices. Dr. Richard Malicdan from Luis Hora Memorial Regional Hospital led an enlightening session on cervical cancer and HIV awareness, providing insights into prevention, early detection, and resources for support. Mr. Alfred Fomocao, Dean of the Nursing Department, presented on women’s reproductive health with a focus on teenage pregnancy, exploring its social and health implications and highlighting support systems available to young people.
Aligned with Sustainable Development Goals 5 (Gender Equality) and 3 (Good Health and Well-being), the seminar underscored the importance of understanding reproductive health to promote healthier, more equitable communities. This initiative also emphasized the role of education in addressing gender inequality, supporting informed decision-making, and advocating for improved health services and access for all.
By addressing these crucial topics, the seminar served as a valuable platform for dialogue, reflection, and community-building around the theme of reproductive health. MPSPC remains committed to organizing programs that contribute to the well-being and empowerment of its community members.
