June 17, 2023 – Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC), in collaboration with ACDI/VOCA PhilCAFE Project, achieved an important milestone by finalizing a comprehensive training manual aimed at empowering coffee farmers in the intricacies of Coffee Production from Seed to Cup. This significant accomplishment resulted from two workshops held on March 16 at MPSPC Tadian Campus and June 17 at Bontoc Campus, led by the committed project staff of the “Development and Evaluation of Colorimetric Chart for Coffee (Coffea Arabica L.) Ripeness Determination (DECCCORD)” project. The workshops served as crucial milestones in the endeavor to create an all-encompassing training manual, intended to equip coffee farmers with essential knowledge and techniques for enhancing their coffee cultivation and post-harvest practices.
The finalization of learning materials involved extensive reviews, inclusive of new chapters jointly developed by the MPSPC project team and ACDI/VOCA. Subsequently, these materials underwent a final layout by a graphic artist. Notably, discussions with Ms. Christine Abellon, the Regional Coordinator for CAR at ACDI/VOCA PhilCAFE Project, highlighted a collaborative effort with the PhilCAFE Team. This alliance with field experts aimed to assess and enhance the learning materials, ensuring their quality before printing.
The successful workshops signify a significant advancement in the ACDI/VOCA PhilCAFE Project. The collaboration between MPSPC, ACDI/VOCA, and expert assessments promises refined and impactful training manuals, poised to enrich coffee production practices in Mountain Province. This finalization process signifies a pivotal moment, underscoring the commitment to excellence and the collaborative spirit driving the project’s success.
