MPSPC Criminology Freshmen Engage in Mental Health Awareness Session

October is Mental Health Month.

The guidance staff delivered lectures on “Caring for Your Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Drug Prevention” to the five sections of BS Criminology freshmen students on October 17, 2024, in room 414.

Various ways to deal with adjustment problems relative to academic, personal, social, financial, and environmental issues were discussed. Developmental problems encountered by freshmen, such as career problems, family problems, suicidal thoughts, and depression were also discussed.

The negative coping skills including substance abuse were discouraged while the positive coping skills were emphasized. Awareness of alcohol tolerance and caution when drinking was talked about especially since alcohol drinking is a commonly utilized negative coping by students.
