In honor of Pride Month, Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC), through its Gender and Development (GAD) Unit, hosted a mental health seminar and offered free HIV testing for LGBT students. The event, themed “Embracing Diversity: Nurturing the Mental Health of LGBT Students,” took place on June 18 at the College Administrative Hall and highlighted MPSPC’s commitment to inclusivity and support for LGBT health and well-being.
College President Dr. Edgar G. Cue, represented by Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Mark Preston S. Lopez, extended his warm support to LGBT students and the community. Dr. Cue’s message underscored the importance of self-acceptance and community: “Take pride in who you are, as you are building a future where love is love, and humanity comes first.”
The event focused on addressing mental health issues specific to LGBT students, fostering a safe space where they could discuss and learn about self-care and mental resilience. Free HIV testing was also offered, emphasizing MPSPC’s proactive approach to health and support services for its diverse student body. This initiative aligns with the college’s mission to create a nurturing, inclusive environment where every student feels valued and supported.
