MPSPC Partners with Artisanal Gold Council for Sustainable and Climate-Responsive Capacity Development in Sagada

To strengthen the sustainability and climate responsiveness of capacity development activities under the planetGOLD Philippines Project for miners in Sagada, Mountain Province, a ceremonial signing event was held on July 20, 2023, in Bontoc. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), signed between the Artisanal Gold Council (AGC) Philippines and Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC), formalizes a collaborative commitment to advancing sustainable practices within the small-scale mining community.

Through the MOU, MPSPC will provide critical expertise and technical assistance in a range of capacity-building activities for miners. This includes training on government relations, administrative and business management, public relations and communication, financial planning, personal entrepreneurial skills for women, and organizational development. In addition, the MPSPC is dedicated to incorporating climate action into these efforts by promoting sustainable mining practices, educating miners on reducing environmental impact, and encouraging responsible waste management.

These initiatives aim to create a resilient and empowered mining community that is not only economically sustainable but also conscious of its environmental responsibilities, aligning with both local development goals and global climate action priorities.
