MPSPC promotes peace amid tribal conflict

Public officials from the Bontoc Municipal Government and Provincial Government unit convened with the college president of Mountain Province State Polytechnic College to tackle matters for the safety and security of students amidst the tribal conflict between Barangay Betwagan of Sadanga, Mountain Province, and Barangay Butbut of Tinglayan, Kalinga.

Last December 19, 2022, at the Administrative Conference Hall, Congressman Maximo Dalog, Jr., Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan, Jr., and Mayor Jerome Tudlong had a conversation with President Edgar G. Cue regarding the implementation of a ‘Peace Zone’ at Mountain Province State Polytechnic College. The Executive Deans and college officials from the different campuses also participated in the event via Zoom.

The focus of the discussion revolved around implementing safety and security measures at MPSPC, the friendly orientation for students coming from the two barangays, and the advocacy for public safety. Academic considerations for the concerned students were also given attention, especially for the incoming Second Semester, which starts on January 2023.
