In observance of Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week, Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) organized an interactive seminar titled “Overlapping Crises: Gender-Based Violence and Maternal Mental Health Awareness” on May 31, 2024, at the College Administration Conference Hall in Bontoc, Mountain Province. The event brought together employee-mothers to explore the intersection of gender-based violence and maternal mental health, promoting emotional well-being and creating a space for open discussion and support.
The seminar aimed to encourage participants to speak openly about mental health challenges, dismantle stigmas, and cultivate a workplace culture that values empathy and understanding. Ms. Crystine Cofulan-Felimon, MPSPC Guidance and Counselling Coordinator, delivered an insightful talk on the impact of gender-based violence on mental health, highlighting its effects on individuals and families. Psychologist and Mental Health Coordinator for Mountain Province, Ms. Eleonor Bagwan-Batnag, followed with a session focused on maternal mental health, addressing the unique mental health needs of mothers and the importance of accessible support systems.
Through this initiative, MPSPC reaffirms its commitment to fostering a supportive environment that prioritizes the well-being of its employees and acknowledges the critical importance of mental health in building resilient families and communities.
