Bontoc, Mountain Province—The People’s Survival Fund Board Secretariat (PSFBS), composed of officials from the Department of Finance, Climate Change Commission, Development Bank of the Philippines, and Department of Environment and Natural Resources, conducted a courtesy visit to Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. at the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Operations Center on July 12, 2023. The visit marked the start of the Project Appraisal Mission for the proposed “Mountain Province Climate Field School for Farmers.”
The event was attended by Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) President Edgar G. Cue and Research Director Luzlyn Agwilang, a key member of the Technical Group for the Climate Field School proposal. The MPSPC is an implementing partner in this initiative, with plans to establish the Climate Field School in Bacarri, Paracelis, when the project is approved.
During the kick-off meeting, the PSFBS team, MPSPC representatives, implementing partner agencies, and other stakeholders discussed the project’s goal to empower local farmers with climate-resilient agricultural practices. The Field Appraisal Mission seeks to refine project details, evaluate its readiness and sustainability, and confirm a collaborative approach for successful implementation.
The PSFBS team is scheduled to visit MPSPC’s College of Agriculture site for further evaluation. Governor Lacwasan extended his gratitude to PSFBS members, the MPSPC team, and all provincial and national representatives, assuring that Mountain Province will provide its counterpart resources for the project. He expressed optimism for the proposal’s realization through the collective efforts of validators, implementing partners, and other stakeholders.
