SHCE Level 3 Nursing Students Participate in Self-Awareness Program to Prepare for Psychiatric Clinical Exposure

On September 4, 2024, Level 3 student nurses from the School of Healthcare Education (SHCE) attended a Self-Awareness Program held at the JBA Building in Samoki, Bontoc, Mountain Province. The program, led by mental health advocate Ms. Pharisia Gail L. Tudlong and MPSPC Guidance Counselor Ms. Crystine C. Felimon, aimed to deepen students’ self-understanding and equip them for their upcoming psychiatric ward clinical exposure.

Ms. Tudlong delivered an engaging session on stigma and discrimination associated with mental health, exploring how these issues affect individuals and society. She also guided students through an exploration of different personality types and discussed their potential impacts on interpersonal relationships and professional practice.

Ms. Felimon provided personalized feedback by interpreting the results of psychological assessments taken by the students. Her insights helped students identify strengths and areas for improvement, and she offered practical tips for managing weaknesses and maintaining mental well-being.

This program reflects MPSPC’s commitment to preparing its nursing students not only academically but also mentally and emotionally, ensuring they are ready to provide compassionate care in psychiatric settings.
